Man crush Monday

It's going down...I'm yelling TINDER.

TINDER DATE. I went on another. Well, we just met for ice cream the first time…but whatever. His name is Tenney, he’s from Huntsville. He’s a tiny bit shorter than me and has a beard, but neither of those are deal breakers. (What is Tinder, you may ask? It’s an app where if you think the person is cute, you swipe right. Totes uggs? Swipe left. If both people swipe right, it’s a match and you can start chatting. It’s something to do, okay?) We’d been chatting for a couple weeks, met up for ice cream so that my parents wouldn’t freak about me going on a date with a complete stranger, then had a little date on Friday. I drove up to Huntsville Friday evening and we went four-wheeling (which I thought we weren’t actually going to do because it was kind of late, so I was wearing flip flops and had to borrow some snow boots…aca-awkward) up behind his house. Huntsville is SO pretty, I love it. We had a pretty good time, even though Tenney kept asking if I was doing okay and stuff…maybe he was nervous about me not liking it or something, but it was fun. Afterwards, he cooked (burned) a pizza…not the most delicious thing, but it was pretty funny…then we watched Here Comes the Boom. His dog knocked my soda over with its tail, Tenney and I sat reeeeeally close together…our arms were touching, but that was it, and then he gave me a side hug when he walked me to my car. Like, what? I’m not sure. Maybe we’re just friends. We haven’t talked much since…strange experience. But it was fun enough anyway.

monday musings

My brother and I went to Fiiz Drinks in Bountiful this afternoon. (I go at least twice a week...it's cool.) I've got a pretty solid relationship with the Dirty Diet Dr. Pepper, but after being introduced to the Pineapple Upside Down Cake, I may need to mix things up. Just go to there. That's all I can say.

Nick got his learners permit this morning, so we went for a little drive. It only took me two minutes to calm down, then I offered some pretty good constructive criticism, if I do say so myself. I'm just working on being the cool sister. So we party.

Visiting teaching on the last day of the month is so fantastic. Visiting teaching on the last day of the month with your kindred spirit/pseudo mission companion Kasey is the absolute best. Everyone needs a friend like Kasey.

Last week, I told my mom I wanted hot dog boats for dinner. We didn't get around to it, and my mom left on a business trip this morning, so the hot dog boat making responsibility fell to me. Guess who's never made mashed potatoes by herself before. Me. I peeled, chopped, and boiled. As I mashed, all I could think was While You Were Sleeping. "Mmm, these mashed potatoes are so creamy." "Mary mashed them." Then I was getting frustrated because I'd never be Mary because those damn lumps would NOT come out. There was butter, milk, salt, all of the delicious things...but it just didn't work out. I don't think I'm ready to get married, unless my future husband knows how to cook. Then we'll see.

Peach cobbler is always good. As is The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Oh, and Albus Dumbledore is a genius:

Also, I do believe this is my 100th blog post. In case that's important or something.

Not me. Not mine.

I feel like I learn something new about myself every day...and sometimes I feel like I'm having an identity crisis. I don't always feel like myself...but maybe this is a new me?
"You have depression? But you always seem so happy!" Girlfriend, that just means I'm doing my job right. Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know... Frozen joke. But really. Depression turns you into a good actress. Again, identity crisis.
My life is really great. But sometimes I don't feel like I fit in it. I don't really feel like I have a direction. Just one day at a time in a life that isn't mine.

I'm a blog stalker.

It's true. It's one of my favorite hobbies. Finding a friend's (or a stranger's) blog, reading through all the archives, hoping they don't figure out why there were so many page views on the blog last night...

In a college English class, I actually wrote a ten-page paper on blogging...and now I can't remember why. I do remember my professor saying she found blog-reading voyeuristic (fancy word for 'creepy'?). I'm completely opposite, I think it's fabulous. Just a peek (or dive) into someone else's life. (But let's be real. I'd read everyone's journals if they'd let me.)

Reading is fun. Writing is fun. Talking is fun. Let's just share everything..

new obsession

I've always had a problem with sticky notes. I just love them too much!! I mean, check out the side of my bookshelf.

In my last area on my mission, everything in our apartment was covered in sticky notes. The four of us were always sending notes back in forth, hiding them in journals, scriptures, closets, everywhere. IJUSTREALLYLOVESTICKYNOTES.

You can imagine how happy I was when I stumbled upon a STICKY NOTE APP. I'm even more in love now, if that's at all possible.

TOO MUCH FUN. It's probably my most used app, next to Facebook.

I know. I need a life.

the day after

Christmas hangovers....you know what I'm talking about.

Go for a walk with mom: check.
Shower: check. (That was a big step.)
Make bed and fold laundry: check.
Sit on bed, eating Christmas candy and watching Netflix: in progress.

Also, say hello to my main man. I can't get enough.
