the rest of my mission.

Today's the day that the sisters I entered into the mission field with return home. Today's the day I would've come home, had I served the full eighteen months of my mission. Instead, I came home on November 27th, 2013, the day before Thanksgiving.

The past ten months have completely flown by. They've gone by quicker than the eight months that I was serving in France.

I promised myself I wouldn't wonder what might have been, had I stayed and served the rest of the eighteen months. No looking back, only moving forward. It was really hard at first not to wonder if I'd made the right decision, if I was in the right place.

So many great things have happened in the past ten months in my life. I can't even doubt that this was all part of the plan. November 27th wasn't the end of my mission. It was just a transfer, and the beginning of the rest of my mission.

The first two months back were kind of a blur. Thanksgiving, Christmas, recovering, trying to make a new plan... Mostly I just caught up on TV shows and spent a lot of time in my bed. Also, a lot of lunch dates with my favorite friends ;) No regrets there.

At the end of January, I finally found a car and a completely wonderful job. If it weren't for the job I have, the relationships and friendships that I've found there, I think it would've taken longer to get out and back to normal life. I finally felt like I was doing something worthwhile again. God bless Wasatch Peak Physical Therapy.

Around the same time, I was called into the Relief Society presidency in my singles' ward. What a blessing to be surrounded by three amazing girls who immediately became my best friends. I don't think they'll ever realize how much they blessed my life through their examples and friendship. I've never laughed so much. That calling was my absolute favorite--serving in that capacity brought more joy into my life than I thought it would.

I got to live with my best friend for two months before she left on her mission. Not everyone gets a chance to do that! I hate to think that I might've missed out on that time together.

My relationships with my family have been strengthened incredibly. I find myself doing things, good things, that I wouldn't have been brave enough to do before. I feel like I've grown up through all of these experiences.

This part of my mission has been just as hard as the part in France. I still feel like I'm not doing enough, depression still sucks, and waking up at 6:30 is still one of the hardest parts of the day. There are still days that I can't get out of bed, and I know that these things with which I've struggled will always be challenges in my life.

That being said, I know this part of my mission is just as important as the time I served as a full-time missionary, if not more important. We're here to learn and grow together and lift each other up, regardless of our circumstances or our calling. I know that I haven't been alone in any of this, and that I'll never, ever be alone. Major shout out to my incredible friends and family who have accompanied me during this mission of life.

I'm no longer serving a full-time mission, but I will always be a missionary.

"Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life." --3 Nephi 5:12

How grateful I am that the Lord still trusts me to serve Him.

My mission isn't over.

Quotey quoterson

Once upon a time, I started taking a stress management class that very well may save my life. One of our assignments this week was to find two quotes that somehow pertained to mental or emotional health or stress management or whatever... AKA PERMISSION TO BROWSE PINTEREST. Best homework assignment ever. I jumped over to my "I Wish I'd Said That..." board (http://www.pinterest.com/kelseylyn/i-wish-i-d-said-that/) and found some goodies that're too fab not to share.

wednesday funnies

*******************************************************************
Happy 26th anniversary to these two... what fantastic people. Special, even.

*******************************************************************
I'd been at work for two and half hours when the phone rang for the first time.
Called ID: 435-somethin, Tooele, UT.
Hmm.
Me: "Wasatch Peak Physical Therapy, this is Kelsey."
.................
Me: "Hello?"
.................
Me: "Hello??"
Rustling in the background...
In an excellent hick accent, the lady on the other end of the conversation: "Who the heck did I call?"

*******************************************************************
Walking out of my house to leave for work:

Mom: "So...Nick got kissed."
Um what? Nick's at EFY for the week.
Mom: "Yeah, he just texted me, telling me that he 'got some'."
Oh boy. He probably just wants you to be mad so that you'll let him come early, I said.
Mom: "Oh, I'm not mad. I just can't figure out why he'd want to tell me about it."

Twenty five minutes later, as I pull into my office parking lot, I get a text message.
Mom: "He got some...ear plugs. Where was my mind??? Oh my gosh. I'm laughing my guts out!!"

And then I died.

A muumuu moment.

So Kasey and I only went to Walmart like twice together last week...and maybe one of those times, I bought a sweet as class muumuu. I've always wanted one, it just felt like the right time. And I wore it, from about 7pm last night until 12:45 this afternoon. That's just how I roll.

So this one time, my mom called at about 12:15, when I was curling my hair and watching Friends. She was at work, my little brother had checked him out of school and someone needed to go pick him up. "But Karen, I'm in my muumuu." "It's fine, he won't care, just go." I was totally down with it...until I got to my front door and remembered just how many cars come down this main road that I live on. Le sigh. I waited until a car passed then booked it out to my car...just as the Dickson's were pulling into their driveway. Jake just smiled and waved while I silently cursed for not having gotten out of bed before noon and put on real clothes.

Ahhhh good day.

MOAB.

A nice little weekend in Moab...trippin with the parents because I'm cool like that.
Do enjoy these little iPhone snapshots.

Moab Diner selfie!

Pretending to take a selfie, but actually taking a picture of my dad taking a picture.

Important note. The Bacon Avocado Omelet at the Moab Diner is DELISH. Even two days in a row.

New treat: S'mores, using cookies instead of graham crackers. More chocolate, more deliciousness.

Hint. Don't go camping with Karen. Because she'll take pictures of you while you're sleeping.
I guess my parents are pretty cool.

Clark, G-Money and Grandpa Frank. Cool kids.

Karen building a cairn. That never gets old.

Nature is neat.

False Kiva...not as cool as you want it to be. It's false. And there's no Keva Juice.

Hiking selfie. Classy.

Places to go:
--Upheaval Dome

--The Grand Overlook

--Dead Horse Point

Oh. And don't forget to KICK TRASH in Phase 10.

mistake.

Tuesday night (Wednesday morning): went to sleep around 3:45am, knowing very well that I'd have to wake up at 8:45 to watch Cooper while my mom went to the gym.

Wednesday night (Thursday morning): went to sleep around 12:15, knowing very well that I'd have to wake up at 5:15 in order to be to work by 6:45.

And there I was, nearly falling asleep at the reception desk. WHY? Why do I do this to myself?? Five hours of sleep a night with NO naps?

I don't even know who I am anymore.

False. I know who I am. I'm Tired Kelsey.
