I love the fall. Love, love, love it. And Halloween is always my favorite day of the season. Something about the way it feels outside just screams happiness. But maybe that had something to do with the fact that for the majority of my lesser education, we didn't have to go to school on Halloween. You know, because it's a major holiday....and something about teacher prep day, but whatever. Anyway, I was tempted to skip school just to keep with tradition. Good thing I didn't, or else I would've missed out on Kit Kats in Economics! But...that would've been it.
I wish that I didn't have to be stuck inside on this gorgeous fall day. Stuck in class, in my office, on the bus...what a waste! I think next fall, I'll pull a Henry David Thoreau and live in a secluded cabin and just soak it all in. That sounds so much better than English papers, insurance policies and studying for art quizzes (that's what the last 3 hours of my life have consisted of...be jealous).
I've heard some rumors going around...about snow tomorrow? Should that happen to be the case, I believe I'll be staying in bed and enjoying hot chocolate and a good book. Because I REFUSE to accept the snow. I'm in denial, you see. It's just all happening too soon. I rather despise winter. The snow is only pretty for about two days (the 24th and 25th of December) then it's all downhill from there. No likey!
Please, fall, just stay. Forever. I....I love you.
Also, on a super unrelated, exciting note that I just like to talk about because it makes me so happy! (English friends--is that a properly formulated sentence? I'm too tired to figure it out, but just wondering...) ANYWAY. I'm going to New York again in June!! Aw yeah! Maybe it'll be stealing from my college fund, but so what? I'm young, I like to party, and I need a trip so bad that I'll die if I don't have something to look forward to at the end of the school year. So. I'm going. And it is going to be the greatest party EVER. That's all.
Happy halloween, kids. If you don't have the exceptional fortune of getting to see my family's costumes tonight, I'll see what I can do about posting some for your enjoyment.

the happiest parts of my day
Sometimes, on those kinda crappy days, you gotta hold on to the good parts.
Text from Emily Blankinship: "I am at this ward hoedown and one of my FHE brothers is playing the guitar and singing that song that you sang about a feather bed!! I totally just cried inside because it reminded me of you!"
I think that's the most tender thing I've ever heard. I'm now sporting my sweet pajamas and pondering putting on my cowboy boots. Just for fun.
We almost got away with only singing Pumped Up Kicks as our opening song for family night. Almost.
I have a sweet battle scar from my adventure at the gym this morning. I'd totally post a picture if I didn't have three bandaids and Neosporin protecting it from the world.
I stayed awake during Economics. That NEVER happens. I guess that wasn't a happy thing...but I was so proud that I let myself take a nap during Theatre just because I'd done so well.
My English teacher told us that we don't have to come to class for the rest of the semester. No class until 9:30? Don't mind if I do!
Sometimes Mondays aren't so great. But none of them have killed me yet! (fingers crossed...)

A Sweat Pants Sort of Day
There's something you need to know about me.
I LOVE sweat pants. I love being cozy. BUT. I love it in my house. And occasionally on a late-night treat run to the grocery store. However, I have issues with wearing them to school. They just aren't flattering on me. At all. And not like I care, I mean, really. But since I've started college, I've been tryin to make an effort to look good so that someday, a man might, I don't know, want to marry me? I mean, it'd be nice. So. I've been tryin to step it up a bit.
But some days, you just can't fight it. Some days, you just aren't feelin the whole school thing and it's all you can do to get up and take a shower. Which is probably most days, but especially today. So...today was a sweat pants day.
I think my mom was sick of me by the time I left for school. "Well which sweat pants should I wear?" "What shirt do I wear with them?" "Do I wear a jacket?" "I don't have shoes that match!" I was kinda driving myself crazy. But, all things considered, I looked decent as I walked out the door.
By the time I got to school, I was feelin pretty great about the whole thing. In fact, I even went all High School Musical with it. This could be the start of something new. New and beautiful and so cozy.

A Few Things I Learned This Week
--The Swiss eat 19 pounds of chocolate per person per year. Chocolate is my friend.
--Studying for a test the night before you take it won't do much good. Especially if you sleep through that class three times a week.
--Sleeping in can be fabulous, but only when you have the time for it. When you just happen to sleep through an entire day of school? Not so much.
--Once you accept the fact that the leading actress isn't Julie or Audrey, My Fair Lady becomes ever so enjoyable.
--Video chatting with your best friend is twelve hundred times better than writing papers about Shakespeare.
--Once the end is in sight, you feel like you could keep going for a long time. I feel like I could check groceries for the rest of my life...yeah right!! Get me outta there! Tuesday night is my last...come visit?
--Primary programs are just a little bit adorable.
--Retail therapy is real fabulous. As is my new wardrobe.

I apologize...
...for that last post, for it was such a downer. I don't mean to be that way, that's just how it is sometimes. So, to make up for it, I thought I'd post some things that make me laugh :)
First, this video:
(DISCLAIMER: there are a couple words that could tend to make one cringe...you've been warned)
That being said, this video, as well as the Hamlet video, make me laugh so hard. LOVE IT. As I was researching Shakespeare for a theatre presentation, I had to watch these videos about four times this week...you know, for the sake of research. Do enjoy.
Second, a short story:
I work at Allstate, as you know. My boss was out last Friday afternoon, so I was just making calls and scheduling appointments. I called this man, we'll call him Claude, as that is his name. Our conversation went something like this...
Me: "Hi, is this Claude?"
Claude: "...who is this?"
Me: "It's Kelsey, I work with Allstate?"
Claude: "You're calling for Austin? Well that's our grandson, but he doesn't live here."
Me: "No, no, ALLSTATE. Your insurance company? Doug Thatcher is your agent?"
Claude: "Oh..."
Me: "I'm calling about renewing your car insurance policy."
Claude: "Well I don't have car insurance!"
Me"....you don't?"
Claude: "No I don't! Haven't for years!"
It went on for another minute or so, me asking if he was sure that he didn't have it, and him being positive that he hasn't been insured for years...so I did a little research. He's actually been insured there for 8 years...three cars and his house...
But he's 92. I mean, what can you do?
Apparently not renew his insurance policy...
Third, a quote:
"You cheated on me. " "How did I--" "You cheated on me with choreography, and that's the worst kind!" --Cam and Mitch from Modern Family, right after Mitch danced with a flash mob...probably the greatest episode of the greatest show ever. WATCH IT.
That's all.

Lacking passion
Not gonna lie, school has just been killing me. School and work and work and missing my friends and trying to get enough sleep and get my homework done and not go crazy... I wish I could do it all but I just can't. My sanity is nearly gone and so is my passion, my 'joie de vivre,' whatever you call it. I got none. There isn't even enough time to figure out what my passion is with a life like this.
So.... I quit my job. Job number one, that is. Bye bye Bowmans. As relieving as it is to know that after the end of next week I'll be done forever, I can't help feeling sad about it. I worked with a lot of people for the last time today and we had so much fun! I've really grown to love the people I work with and the people that shop there (except for the creepy ones), I'm just really going to miss it. I turned in my notice on Tuesday, and since then I've been trying to figure out a way that I could still do both jobs...it would probably be more productive to just begin the process of moving on. So...gotta work on that.
I've been trying to find ways to make school feel more meaningful. The novelty (if there ever was any to begin with?) has worn off and now...it's a little blah. I feel like if I could just find a new group of friends, if I could choose a major, if I could figure out why I'm at Weber instead of the U or USU, then it'd all be worth it and I'd just be fine right where I am. So far....nothing. I realize that it's only been seven weeks and that I have zero patience, but I just want to get things figured out. I just need a little passion.
I think I need a break. A trip! Just a little weekend somethin...where should I go?
Also, while you're answering that question, what should I major in? Where should I go to school next year? What did I wear to church two weeks ago? (Can't repeat an outfit, you know...)
Any assistance would be so greatly appreciated.
